Yasmeen Omar

BSc. Physio (Wits), PT0053791

Yasmeen graduated with an honours degree in physiotherapy at the University of Witwatersrand in 1994. She completed her Trauma and ICU blocks at Chris Hani Baragwanath hospital. She was briefly employed by Brigitte Alexander before starting up a private practice at the Ennerdale Medical centre and Lenmed AK Private Hospital . Yasmeen’s career in Orthopaedics and ICU was largely inspired by skilled physicians and orthopaedic surgeons and has been regarded as an integral member of a multidisciplinary team. Her expertise now lies in her current interest in post joint-arthroplasty and has completed a Women’s health course in 2013. Her physiotherapy career has spanned 20 years involving every area and specialty of medicine. Yasmeen remains passionate about ethics and affordable patient care , and is persistent about each member of her team participating in continuing education.



Trushna Kalichuran

BSc. Physio (University of Pretoria), PT0078727

Trushna graduated with an honours degree in physiotherapy in 2002 from the University of Pretoria. She spent a year working at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital, 2 years at the Johannesburg Charlotte Maxete Academic Hospital, then a further 2 years at Sunninghill Private Hospital. She has also worked as a locum physiotherapist at Milpark Clinic. Trushna joined Yasmeen Omar in 2007 and has been part of the Lenmed AK Private Hospital family since. She is a skilled physiotherapist with a passion for in-hospital physiotherapy management. Her current fields of interest include: Respiratory Rehabilitation ( both acute and chronic) , Traumatology, Cardiac rehabilitation, Acute orthopaedic rehabilitation, Acute Neurology rehabilitation and Paediatric Chest physiotherapy. Trushna is trained and experienced in reducing patient’s ventilator- dependency, improving independent function and quality of life. She has also been accredited with a CPT1 qualification having completed the course Cum Laude in 2014.



Misha Mohanlal

BSc. Physio (Wits), M.B.A (UNISA), PT0095397

Misha graduated with an honours degree in physiotherapy from WITS in 2006. She completed her Trauma and ICU blocks at Union Private Hospital and Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital respectively. She obtained her Masters in Business Administration from UNISA in 2011. Subsequently, Misha has been accredited with her Women’s Health ( WHPT1) qualification , with a special interest in breastfeeding, urinary incontinence and pelvic floor dysfunction. Misha has extensive experience in dry-needling, orthopaedics , and pain management. She supports the biopsychosocial model in understanding health and wellness and applies a holistic evidence-based treatment approach incorporating pain reduction, joint mobilization,exercise, education and lifestyle modification to assist clients in achieving their highest level of function.



Rafiah Sujee

BSc. Physio (Wits), PT0105635

Rafiah graduated with an honours degree in physiotherapy from Wits in 2009. She completed her Trauma and ICU blocks at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital. She spent 2 years working at Chiawelo Clinic after qualifying, where she learned to appreciate the importance of a multi-disciplinary approach in the holistic rehabilitation of patients within their communities. Rafiah continues to develop her skills through postgraduate courses in respiratory rehabilitation, dry-needling, taping and manual concepts. She has gained experience in treating a wide variety of orthopaedic and post-surgical conditions as well as chronic musculoskeletal impairments. With a special interest in Paediatrics, Orthopaedics and Sport Physiotherapy, Rafiah uses evidence based treatment modalities to improve her patient’s quality of life and function.



Sajedah Molvi

BSc. Physio (Wits), PT0105627

Sajedah graduated with an honours degree in physiotherapy from Wits in 2009. She completed her Trauma and ICU blocks t the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital and the Charlotte Maxete Academic Hospital. Subsequently, she took up a government post at the Lenasia Clinic for 2 years. Sajedah joined Yasmeen Omar physiotherapy in January 2012. She has obtained further post graduate qualifications in dry-needling, kinesio-taping and manual therapy. Sajedah has attended additional ICU and Paediatric Respiratory Physiotherapy courses. She further intends to broaden her knowledge of Neuro-musculosketal physiotherapy. With special interests in ICU, Trauma , orthopaedics and Sports physiotherapy, she believes in holistic, evidence-based treatment for all her patients



Nabeela Hussain

BSc. Physio (Wits), PT0109568

Nabeela graduated with an honours degree in physiotherapy from WITS in 2010. She served her community service at Kopanong in Vereeniging. Subsequently, she worked at Rita Henn and partners at Netcare Rehabilitation in Auckland Park. Nabeela realized early in her career that she developed a passion for Neuro- rehabilitation : the treatment of patients with strokes and traumatic brain injuries. She completed a Basic Bobath course in 2012 and has been a great source of knowledge at the practice with her expertise in neuro-rehab. Nabeela’s goal is to achieve functional independence and to improve quality of life for her patients through rehab. She has been consistent with continuing education by attending courses in dry-needling, strapping and manual therapy ( joint mobilization ) .



Rashaad Lambat

BSc. Physio (UFS), PT0110124

Rashaad graduated with an honours degree in physiotherapy from the University of Free State in 2010, following which he spent a year completing his Community Service at Chris Hani Baragwanth Hospital. Rashaad commenced working at AK Lenmed Private hospital in 2012, initially with D. Morar, then choosing to move over to Y Omar to expand his experience in Trauma, ICU and Rehabilitation. He has since attended various courses in taping and dry needling. Rashaad’s passion lies in Rehabiltation and is particularly skilled in the rehab of spinal/ paraplegic/ quadriplegic patients. He has a positive outlook on his patient’s progress and is particularly well-liked by his colleagues, staff at the clinic and the Doctors he works closely with. Rashaad’s determination and patience is clear with his great patient outcomes, a proven asset to the practice….



Aarti Keshav

BSc Physio (WITS)

Aarti is a BSc(Honours) graduate from the University of Witwatersrand. She has a keen interest in out of hospital neuromuscular-skeletal physiotherapy, has obtained knowledge in dry needling and is aspiring to obtain her Masters Certification in manual therapy. She has completed her trauma and ICU blocks at Netcare Milpark Hospital and has completed her neuro-rehabilitation block at Netcare Rehab- Ackland Park She is also passionate about paediatric rehabilitation and has attended a CP course to gain a better understanding of it.



Admistrative Staff

Rashida Mahomed

Rashida joined Y Omar Physiotherapy in 2004, and is clearly part of the furniture! She is the face of the practice, whose loyalty and commitment is evident in her 11 years’ sparkling service as a practice manager. Rashida is completely bilingual and her computer skills are key to smooth administration of the practice. Rashida also has the daunting , enormous task of dealing with the Workman Compensation ( IOD) claims, and is super-efficient in dealing with the job that no one else wants!! She is involved in billing queries and continues to be the problem-solver at the practice.



Nafisa Chotia

Nafisa has been with Yasmeen Omar Physiotherapy for the past 5 years, having been involved in Medical practice administration prior to joining the practice . She is involved in data capturing and medical aid authorizations. Nafisa’s efficiency lies in her attention to detail and organization. She also plays a role in credit control and has the dreaded task of sitting on the phone with medical aids to check patient funds and benefits.



Nasreen Omar

B Ed ( WITS )

Nasreen graduated as a teacher in 2008 and was the recipient of the John Grey Memorial Award. She remained in the teaching profession for 4 years, following which she shifted her career as a Key Account’s Manager at Yasmeen Omar Physiotherapy. She has been tasked with obtaining medical aid authorizations and credit control. Nasreen’s calm demeanour and organizational skills are well suited to dealing with debtors and medical aids. Her productivity is a clear indication of her commitment and dedication to the practice.
